MOTO G5 PLUS
If you don’t want to spend a lot of money this year, but want something that doesn’t look like a cheap phone, then the Moto G5 Plus is the choice for you.
Features we like about this phone are its fingerprint sensor technology, 64GB of storage, a micro SD card reader and super quick charging time.
Fully supported by all the main carriers in the USA, this phone is an Android 8.0 Oreo.
It also comprises of Google Assistant and a Snapdragon 625 CPU.
There are some compromises of course, the camera is not as good as the one on the pricier model, the MotoZ2, but at less than 33% of the price of it, we think this is a fair enough trade off.
The screen is a respectable 5.2 inch full HD, which should give you plenty of scope for watching videos or viewing photos on.
This phone feels and looks like a more expensive version and with enough of the features of one, makes it one of our top picks of phones on a budget for 2018.

ASUS ZENFONE V
With a Snapdragon 820 processor and a full HD display screen of 5.2 inches, there are some features of this Asus ZenFone V that will feel like a premium quality phone. Unfortunately, there are some that don’t also!
This phone comes with 4GB of ram and a fairly conservative 32GB of internal storage – boosted by a micro SD card.
One of the premium features of the phone is the camera, which should not disappoint. The camera on the rear is 23 MP and can create videos in 4K, whereas the front facing one has 8MP.
There are a decent amount of different modes to choose between, including Selfie Mode.
For something that is only priced at $240, we feel this is a great feature.
The battery life is respectable enough and can fully re-charge within two hours. The manufacturer claims to be able to get up to 60% of battery life from scratch in only 37 minutes, but we were not too sure we could manage to do that ourselves.
As for the downsides, well the main one really is that this phone is locked into Verizon. If you can live with that one drawback, we feel this is one of the best budget phones around this Christmas!
146 X 72.6 X 7.6mm
CAMERAS: 8MP FRONT 23MP REAR
5.2 INCH SCREEN
Want the power of the iPhone, without the size, scale and hefty price tag? Then the iPhone SE might be the phone for you.
At only 4 inches, the screen is definitely compact, but the phone still packs a punch in terms of performance.
Because this is small, it is easy to hold and to operate with only one hand, which is not something that can be said about some of the pricier, larger models out there.
The battery life and the camera on this phone is second to none and the only downsides are the lack of 3D Touch.
Still well worth it though.
